Description:   A Bargello is a dramatic quilt with strips pieced together to create a sense of movement.  They are first sewed together, then cut apart and sewed back together in a way to create the design.  It's so fun to see how it works.

 

Skill Level:    All Levels

 

Skill, Technique, or Method:   This pattern contains innovative Quick-Cut Guides that show you exactly where to cut the strips apart and label each cut segment so you can keep them in order when sewing them back together.

 

Pattern Fee:  $9.95

 

Fabric Requirements:

40 total 2½” strips (They must be 20 identical pairs) These can be cut from ¼ yard of 20 different fabrics. I suggest that you read Wendy’s fabric suggestions.

Accent: (Optional) 3/8 yard cut into 4-2½” strips

Background: 2 1/8 yards. Using a print for the Background will help hide the seams. The background fabric may also work as an Accent.

Border 1: 7/8 yard

Border 2: (Optional) 5/8 yard

Border 3: 1 5/8 yard

Backing: 5¾ yards

Binding: 2/3 yard (9 2½” strips)

 

Finished project size: Throw (without borders) 54"x75", Twin (with borders) 73"x94"
