Quilt: “X’s no O’s
This may look complicated but a clever cutting technique makes it super easy and fast to make. You will be so surprised at how fast this block comes together! And isn’t it striking?!
Skill Level: Beginner
Pattern Fee: None
To make ONE 10” finished block you need two 9” squares of contrasting fabrics. This could be a print and a solid or two prints with good contrast or two solids. We obviously won’t be making a whole quilt in class so bring enough squares to make 3 or 4 blocks. In the picture I made blocks until I ran out of the focus fabric which was a print. I knew I wasn’t making a bed quilt so I just used what I had to make a wall quilt. The blocks will finish at 10” and you can cut (16) 9’ squares from an accurately cut yard of fabric so that can help you determine how much fabric you need for a particular size quilt. This block is darling made from charm squares or simple 5’ squares that you cut. Bring a couple to try if you want to. Also, I will give you cutting measurements for several different sized blocks.
You can get (4) 9’ squares from a fat quarter if it is cut accurately. Layer cakes work great for this block as well.
Finished project size: You choose your quilt size, finished block is 10”
